🗝️How to regenerate or revoke your Famewall API key

Get a new Famewall API key if you've lost yours or think it leaked, or switch API access off completely.

Your API key is shown only once, when you create it. If you've lost it, or you think someone else has it, regenerate it. To turn off API access entirely, revoke it.

Regenerate your key

  1. Click API in the sidebar of your dashboard.

  2. Click Regenerate key and confirm with Yes, regenerate.

  3. Click Copy and store the new key somewhere safe. It won't be shown again after you leave the page.

  4. Replace the old key in every app or script that uses it.

The Your API Key card on the API Access page with the Generate API Key (1) and Copy (2) buttons, before a key has been created
Before you create a key, the card shows Generate API Key. Once a key exists, Regenerate key and Revoke key appear here instead.

Your old key stops working immediately.

Revoke your key

Click Revoke key and confirm with Yes, revoke key. All requests using the key fail from then on. You can generate a new key later with Generate API Key.

Good to know

  • Famewall only stores a secure fingerprint of your key, not the key itself, which is why it can't be shown again.

  • API access needs a paid plan. Revoking a key works on any plan.

  • The key gives access to all your walls, so treat it like a password.

  • Zapier and Make use their own keys on the Automation page, and connected AI assistants use their own sign-in. Regenerating your API key doesn't affect them.
