# How to add your own questions (custom fields) to the collection page form

Ask customers for extra information on your collection page form, like their company name, the course they took or the service they bought.

Custom fields add extra text boxes to the form customers fill in after their testimonial. Use them for anything the standard fields don't cover, such as "Which program did you join?" or "Company name".

## Steps

1. Open your wall and click **Collection Page** in the left menu.
2. Open the **Fields Collection Page** panel and scroll to **Custom Fields**.
3. Fill in the **Field Label** (the question) and the **Field Placeholder** (the hint shown inside the box).
4. Click **Add custom field** to add another question. Use the up and down arrows to change the order, or the **X** to remove a field.
5. Click **Save Edit Changes**.

The new fields appear on the details form for every testimonial type: text, video, audio and image. Customers' answers are saved with their testimonial, so you can see them when you review it.

## Good to know

* Custom fields are always optional for customers. There's no setting to make them required.
* A field without a label is removed when you save.
* Give every field a different label. Two fields with the same label are treated as one, so answers can get mixed up.
* Custom fields are single-line text boxes. For a star rating, use **Ask for Rating** instead. See [How to choose which details customers fill in](/collection-page-settings/choose-form-fields.md).
